Indian Weddings. Wow.
One consequence of the extreme heat is that it was suggested by the Barefoot College that we stay at a nearby hotel. There is no AC on the campus, and with frequent power outages to their taxed solar grid even fans aren’t reliable. Most of the staff just sleep outdoors – yes it’s that hot. (It only went up to about 38 degrees yesterday and we all found it such a tremendous relief.)
When we left this morning, we were told by the staff and knew by the preparations there was to be a good sized wedding in our hotel. The Indian hospitality also showed itself yet again -as we were invited by many in the family, including the groom’s very lovely brother -who absolutely insisted we join in the festivities.
Though we could see the transformations taking place the day before and as we left in the morning, we could have never been prepared for the images above. Another of many great cultural experiences.
